Vacancies
Arthian is seeking to recruit a Planning Manager / Principal Consultant to join our growing Planning Team, with the potential to base yourself at any of our U.K. offices. The Planning & Development Team includes Planners, EIA Practitioners and Contaminated Land Specialists. The wider consultancy team includes Landscape Architects, Graphics & Visualisations Specialists, Ecologists, Noise, Air Quality and Flood Risk Specialists which the planning team have access to.
We are looking for a Planning Manager / Principal-level Planner to lead a team delivering a range of planning applications and EIA projects, taking them from initial conception and feasibility, through the consenting process and discharge of planning conditions. This is a Manager / Principal role with responsibility for team development, team performance and coaching / supervision of supporting staff. The selected candidate will work within a supportive and driven team, delivering Group targets for sales, successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

The Role
- Responsibility for team development, team performance and coaching / supervision of supporting staff.
- Have an active involvement in bid preparation, tender submissions and business development.
- Taking the lead on planning projects, including the submission of applications, monitoring throughout the determination process, responding to comments and discharging planning conditions.
- Providing advice to clients and the wider team.
- Liaise with internal and external consultants engaged on planning projects, clients and stakeholders.
- Taking the lead on community consultation for planning projects.
- Preparation of planning reports, including Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements, Pre-Application Consultation Reports etc.
- Technical review and QA of planning submission documents.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a BSc or MSc in Environmental Planning/ EIA/ Town Planning or other relevant discipline and have a full U.K. driving licence with clean driving record.
Chartered member of the RTPI would be viewed favourably.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience with regards to many of the following areas/disciplines, preferably in a consultancy role:
- Proven track record of working in a planning/ multi-disciplinary consultancy in the U.K.
- Experience of leading planning projects for renewables, minerals, waste, residential or industrial developments;
- Experience of delivering projects within the Town and Country Planning Act, as well as experience of NSIP/DCO, Section 36, Section 37, Development of National Significant application types is desirable;
- Detailed knowledge of planning legislation and processes across the UK;
- Knowledge of EIA legislation and processes across the UK;
- Detailed knowledge of environmental assessment techniques and methodologies;
- Report writing, including Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements, Pre-Application Consultation Reports etc.
- Experienced at organising and undertaking community consultation.
- Technical review and sign off of planning documents;
- Written and verbal communication skills;
- Comfortable engaging with key project stakeholders, including consultees and the local community;
- Project management skills, including delivering projects on time and within budget.
The selected candidate will be a ‘self-starter’ with commercial awareness.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Primavera P6 Planner to join our team, supporting subsea oil and gas steel fabrication projects. This role is critical in ensuring the effective planning, scheduling, and execution of complex fabrication and construction activities, working closely with project teams to maintain delivery efficiency and mitigate risks. Based at our Nigg site the option of Hybrid will also be considered but you must be able to visit site when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, incorporating engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction activities.
- Establish and maintain baseline schedules, tracking progress and highlighting deviations.
- Conduct critical path analysis (CPA) and schedule risk assessments to optimize project execution.
- Integrate subcontractor schedules, ensuring alignment with the overall project timeline.
Project Controls & Performance Monitoring:
- Implement and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) to track project performance and progress against baselines.
- Develop and produce progress tracking dashboards and reports, providing early warnings on potential delays.
- Support cost control functions, ensuring schedule forecasts align with budget and financial reporting.
- Conduct trend analysis and scenario planning to mitigate risks and enhance project delivery.
Stakeholder Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and realistic schedule inputs.
- Facilitate planning and schedule review meetings, providing expert advice on sequencing, dependencies, and resource allocation.
- Develop what-if scenarios and recovery plans to address project risks and ensure timely execution.
Key Requirements:
- Extensive experience in project planning within the subsea oil and gas sector, particularly in steel fabrication and construction.
- Expert proficiency in Primavera P6, including resource and cost loading, progress measurement, and schedule analysis.
- Strong understanding of project controls methodologies, including Earned Value Management (EVM), performance indices, and risk analysis.
- Experience working with construction contracting frameworks such as NEC, 'Lump Sum, Target Cost
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate complex project schedules.
Desirable:
- Experience with offshore construction, fabrication yards, or subsea installation projects.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI for reporting.
- Knowledge of risk management software such as Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA) or Safran Risk.

Job Purpose & Objective
The Welding Engineer role will be to assist the Global Energy (Group) Ltd Technical team with strategic and operational performances to ensure successful delivery of business strategy and objectives.
Global Energy (Group) Ltd are seeking a hard-working individual to join our North Fabrication Division. The successful individual shall have a professional attitude towards work, be willing to work on their own or as part of a small team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a challenging environment with various diverse projects.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
- Promote and adhere to Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Support, continuously improve and communicate welding systems, processes, and policies.
- Qualification of weld procedures in accordance with National/International qualification standards.
- Assist in producing all welding related technical documents.
- Identify and participate in welding process research and development programs.
- Maintain WPS, PQR and Welder Qualification records.
- Provide support to production welding issues when necessary.
- Assist with Technical documentation and Tender reviews.
- Review NDT and project specific procedures.
- Liaise with customer and clients on a regular basis.
Experience, Qualification and Attributes:
Mandatory
- Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English.
- Flexible to work at multiple UK based locations when required.
- Good working and professional work ethic.
- Must be able to multi-task in a pressurised environment.

Preferred
