Offshore wind IRM contract award is a GEG first
Offshore Inspection and remedial works will be carried out by our multi-disciplined technicians. This process started in April 2018 and will continue over a period of several months.
Traditionally, our Nigg Energy Park based divisions within Global Energy Group have supported Offshore Drilling Rig owners in managing the regulatory compliance for their semi-submersible, drill-ship and jack-up MODU fleets having established an integrated approach to utilising inspection, access technologies, fabrication and construction skills to deliver shipyard and offshore projects for IRM contracts.
This is GEG’s first deployment into the offshore wind energy market and a great opportunity to establish ourselves in this sector. Our Nigg Energy Park facility is ideally located to support these type of activities, particularly with current and planned future developments within the Moray Firth.
In order to support SHL with this current IRM contract, it was necessary for GEG to invest in Global Wind Organisation (GWO) training for our technicians who hold all relevant trade qualifications and skills necessary to carry out the scope of work but needed additional training specific to working in the offshore wind market. This was a great example of transferring skills achieved in Oil & Gas then passing onto the Offshore Wind Industry and ensuring employment opportunities for locally based personnel.
Global Energy Group are a full service focused, performance driven business, offering construction, maintenance and enhancement solutions to a diverse range of energy industry customers. Solid values lie at the heart of our business, which is all about its people.
