Time to Talk Day 6th February 2020

Talking about mental health doesn’t need to feel awkward. The purpose of ‘Time to Talk’ day is to try and encourage everyone, nationwide, to have a conversation about mental health. The more we talk, the closer we get to ending the stigma.

Global Energy Group are taking this opportunity to officially launch our newly formed Mental Health First Aid team. Made up of a group of over 40 volunteers from across the entire group, each member completed a two-day intensive training course gaining a SMHFA Certificate in Mental Health First Aid. The programme, which is backed by NHS Scotland, has provided Global Energy Group with a highly valuable resource and enabled us to encourage open discussion around mental health.

People & Culture Director, Christine Cochrane said “To coincide with Time to talk day, we are delighted to launch our team of Mental Health First Aiders around our group of companies. Their availability to all employees aims to the end the stigma around mental health and encourage colleagues to open up and talk. This is just one of the well being initiatives that the Global Energy Group’s, People & Culture team will be rolling out in 2020”.

With one in three of the UK workforce being formally diagnosed with a mental health condition at some point in their lifetime the launch of Global Energy Groups Mental Health First Aid team helps embed a positive, long-term cultural and behaviour change towards mental health.
