Dave Mackay, General Manager at Global Energy Group Fabrication Division (North) commented: “I’m delighted to have Alan onboard and leading the Site Services division. He brings with him a successful track record of managing major projects and I’m confident he will drive significant growth within the business.”

The Site Services division has recently commenced work on two large projects - Torr Achilty and Luichart Power Stations. As part of a three-year plan at Torr Achilty, the team will design and fabricate two new intake control gates for the hydro turbines, while refurbishing and overhauling the existing gates. At the Luichart site, work has started on designing, fabricating and installing a replacement gate at the 34MW power station, which is part of SSE Renewables Conan Hydro Scheme.

Hydropower in Scotland is a well-established energy source, with over 1.5 GW of installed capacity. This generates around 12% of total electricity output in Scotland and is set to expand further due to the growing importance of pumped-storage facilities, which balance the intermittency of wind and solar power, ensuring a reliable and resilient energy supply.

Global Energy Group's enhanced Site Services division is well-positioned to support this growth, offering end-to-end solutions that cater to the evolving needs of the hydro sector. Under Alan Mackay's leadership, the division is committed to delivering excellence in all aspects of hydro infrastructure development and maintenance.
