Global Energy Group, specialists in Repair Order services to the oil and gas industry, has further strengthened its leading position in the sector by investing in the latest technology for carrying out Dimensional Control Surveys.

Last month, the UK’s first commercially available Lieca BLK360 arrived at Global Energy Group’s Aberdeen office and has since been piloted on a number of projects where its efficiencies have been successfully tracked.

The Leica BLK 360 is set to significantly advance offshore survey operations and this investment in innovation will enable Global Energy Group’s clients to receive an expected 25% cost reduction when compared with traditional technologies used.

Surveys are critical for successful project design and implementation.  Given the current market conditions, many service companies in the O&G supply chain have had to rethink their approach.

Global Energy Group has repair order contracts in place directly with 7 major Oil & Gas operators and services some 35+ assets across both offshore and onshore in the UK worth around £65 million.

Initial surveys play a vital role in the Repair Order process as a range of techniques and technologies can be used for the company to then carry out the engineering and design work which then feeds to their fabrication services and then finally the construction teams execute the offshore installation.

The survey offering for a Repair Order can be from simple taped measure measurements to a range of scanning technologies, depending on the scope of work and client requirements.
