Commercial Lead

The role of Commercial Lead will be responsible for leading commercial, supply chain and administrative personnel ensuring that client reporting, and performance requirements are being met against their agreed deadlines. The Commercial Lead will identify any potential delivery and commercial risks, ensuring these are managed appropriately and escalated where required and support tenders and the development of contract opportunities and provide guidance and support to the Operational and Functional stakeholders land their Teams on commercial aspects of the contract delivery. The Commercial Lead will also be responsible for all Financial Reporting to the Group as per specified timelines. The position must support in the overall delivery of Global Energy Groups business objectives through the aligning of deliverables to that of the Aiken Business Unit strategy.


  1. Understanding the contractual, commercial terms and administration requirements of the allocated contract to assist in managing and mitigating risks associated with contract delivery.
  2. Proactively providing advice and support to the Operations Stakeholders and Project Teams regarding the contractual and commercial aspects of the contracts.
  3. Ensuring the commercial deliverables both externally and internally are carried out in accordance with the company's policies, processes and procedures.
  4. Working with the Managing Director and Projects Director to review opportunities for standardising and improving our business delivery model and associated processes.
  5. Working closely with Project Managers and wider project team to review opportunities for maximising KPI performance and enhancing margin.
  6. Provide daily line supervision and support to commercial, administration and procurement personnel on the project liaising with functional management as appropriate.
  7. Directly managing procurement, finance and project controls personnel and assist with setting the work load and objectives of individuals.
  8. Ensuring periodic contract review is undertaken for all contracts under their supervision and highlight specific issues, risks and opportunities requiring management.
  9. Ensuring Financial reporting meets with corporate finance policies.
  10. Review contract/PO terms and conditions and advise of any deviations to that of minimum levels of protection as highlighted in Commercial Corporate Level 2 documentation.
  11. Responsible for budgeting and reforecasting activities of the business unit and divisions.
  12. Act as Business Focal point for working capital and timely conversion of accrued revenue and debt balances. Convene and lead internal workshops as same.

Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of Global Energy Group and is within the remit of this post.

• Undertake agreed training and development in order to provide a framework of knowledge and skills required to perform effectively in the team/department/business unit demonstrating ongoing competency required in role.

• Participate in annual and regular performance appraisal with relevant supervisor and/or manager, identifying and agreeing objectives and targets in relation to personal development.


• Comply with and support the Business Management System within own scope of responsibilities and within the Company as a whole.

• Responsible for developing, modifying and adhering to procedures and / or processes to support the System and its applications within own area of responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience


  1. Minimum of 3 years experience in similar role
  2. Degree qualified in Business or Supply Chain/Contracts related discipline.
  3. Working knowledge of databases and Microsoft projects
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Excellent attention to detail, diligence and self-discipline
  6. Ability to work to tight deadlines to meet group financial reporting requirements
  7. Good working knowledge of industry codes and standards.

The role is based at Aiken Business United, Nord, Aberdeen.
