HSE Advisor

North Fabrication is a service focused, performance driven business within the Group who offer construction, maintenance and enhancement solutions to a diverse range of energy industry customers. We have an opportunity for an experienced and proactive HSE Advisor to join the HSEQ team on a full-time and permanent basis (39-hours per week approx.). This role will be primarily based at our Port of Nigg facility within the Ross-shire area and requires regular travel to different sites.

Job Purpose & Objective

The role of HSE Advisor is responsible for advising all levels of employee on Health & Safety issues, coaching and influencing facility management, supervision and employees in order to conform to Statutory, Customer and Corporate requirements. The HSE Advisor must support in the overall delivery of the Group's business objectives through the aligning of deliverables to that of the individual Business Unit strategy.

Key Accountability

  • Advising on improvements of all aspects of occupational Health, Safety, Environment and related training of personnel.
  • Coaching and influencing Supervision and Facility Management, to facilitate continuous HSE improvement throughout the organisation.
  • Aiding the implementation of the approved HSE improvement plan for North Fabrication.
  • Assisting managers to close out actions arising from HSE audits by customers, third parties and internal audits.
  • Carrying out HSE tours, audits and incident investigations, writing reports and making recommendations.
  • Monitoring and collating statistics of the company and reporting to QHSE Manager.
  • Coordinating and interacting with other business units as required by the QHSE Manager.
  • Assisting management in the preparation of tender/ pre-qualification documents pertaining to Health, safety and environment requirements.
  • Support development of HSE Management Systems and BMS.
  • Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of the business area and is within the remit of this post.
  • Ensure work productivity is carried out in a cost-conscious manner.
  • Auditing and renewing of RA’s, SWP’s, and COSHH assessments as required.
  • Preparation and delivery of Site Specific and Project inductions on new and on-going contracts.
  • Carry out training with personnel and record on IGRIS checking of personnel records and arrange training to meet the requirements.
  • Develop training programs for company requirements.
  • Develop supervisors weekly safety meeting and safety topics, attend meetings and give advice on any topics raised by personnel.
  • Maintain the Hazard Observation and Communication Register and ensure actions raised are closed out.18. Audit the Procedures and Processes involved in Fabrication.

Experience & Qualification

  • Experienced at a professional level with a proven track record in a similar role within the Oil & Gas sector, ideally within a fast-paced dynamic environment and ideally with proven Health, Safety and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance credentials.
  • NEBOSH/HSEQ qualification is essential as well as Internal Auditor ISO 45001 accreditation.
  • Experience with Sologic RCA is preferred as well as an IOSH membership.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of High Hazard Environments.
  • Experience in collecting data, interpreting data and reporting data relevant to our health and safety performance as a Group.
  • Demonstratable experience in communicating with and influencing senior management and stakeholders.

  • Participate in regular reviews with relevant managers, identifying and agreeing action plans where appropriate.


  • Comply with and support the Business Management System within own scope of responsibilities and within the Company as a whole.
  • Responsible for developing, modifying and adhering to procedures and / or processes to support the System and its applications within own area of responsibilities.
