HSE Advisor

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive HSE Advisor to join one of our specialist project teams focusing on work within the Renewable and Sustainable Energy sectors. The base location of the role is determined by project requirements but is primarily based between our Port of Nigg and Invergordon Service Base facilities within the Ross-shire area. Due to current project demand, this role is estimated to have a duration of 6-months (approximately) with the prospective of 45-hour working weeks.

Job Purpose & Objective

The HSE Advisor is responsible for providing HS&E and quality assurance support. This may require the development of Quality and HSE plans with clients, safety interface documents, organizing risk assessment sessions, performing contractor QHSE evaluations, performing job site audits and inspection and investigating incidents. They are also responsible for ensuring best practice is in place and fully embedded across all elements of service delivery platforms, ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and company policies and procedures. Focusing on adherence to service excellence and continuous improvement.

The HSE Advisor must support in the overall delivery of the Group's business objectives through the aligning of deliverables to that of the individual Business Unit strategy.

Key Accountability

  • Provide functional planning support and implementing process assurance activities for the project and reporting results to management.
  • Provision of principle functional support to meet project requirements; including monitoring work activities and evaluating compliance with both statutory and BMS requirements. Proactively intervene and report any issues identified.
  • Co-ordinate and assist managers to close out actions arising from QHSE audits by customers, third parties and internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with client/customer expectations and all relevant governmental regulations.
  • Monitor and collate QHSE data and statistics of the project and report to Management at regular intervals.
  • Facilitate the maintenance and management of environmental health, safety and well-being through systems, audit/ inspection and the establishment of high standards and expectations on employees of service excellence and safety awareness behaviours / performance.
  • Advise on matters relating to the Environment and Health and Safety at work including the obligations and responsibilities of managers and employees; and provide comprehensive and practical advice to managers on best practice.
  • Support with the undertaking of environmental health and safety planning, including the setting of goals, agreeing priorities, and establishing adequate systems for performance management.
  • Provide appropriate accident investigation methodology to ensure personal management accountability and improve risk management, including monitoring and interpretation of statistical data and formulate into a monthly report as and when required.

Experience & Qualification

  • Experienced at a professional level with a proven track record in a similar role within the energy sector, ideally within a fast-paced dynamic environment and ideally with proven Health, Safety and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance credentials.
  • NEBOSH/HSEQ qualification.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current UK HSE policy.
  • Experience in collecting data, interpreting data and reporting data relevant to our health and safety performance as a Group.
  • Demonstratable experience in communicating with and influencing senior management and stakeholders.

  • Undertake agreed training in order to provide a framework of knowledge and skills required to perform effectively in the team/department/business unit in order to demonstrate and maintain required competency in role.
  • Participate in regular reviews with relevant managers, identifying and agreeing action plans where appropriate.

  • Comply with and support the Business Management System within own scope of responsibilities and within the Company as a whole.
  • Responsible for developing, modifying and adhering to procedures and / or processes to support the System and its applications within own area of responsibilities.
